Upcoming regional Phase of PBSP 2010/2011

Between 7th and 18th of March the second phase of the training programme in “Plant Breeding and Seed Production” will be held in the Philippines. The first phase was held in Sweden in September 2010. Local resource persons will be utilized in order to make an in-depth presentation of the Philippine seed industry.

Apart from lectures, study visits will be made to the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), private seed companies, research farms, breeding institutes, farmers’ cooperatives, seed growers etc. The participants will furthermore present their achievements with their individual Project of Change. This work started in Sweden and has been carried out by each participant up to now.

The main venues of the training will be Manila and Baguio. The participants are 21 in number and all professionals from their respective countries’ seed sector. The represented countries are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Georgia, Kenya, Mozambique, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

	2011-09-02 PHASE I OF PBSP 2011 On 5 September the first phase, out of two, of the International Training Programme in Plant Breeding and Seed Production will commence. This phase lasts for four weeks and the main venue is The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Campus Alnarp. Study visits will be made to sites with seed related activities in Skåne, Östergötland and Stockholm.
