Phase I of PBSP 2011/2012

On 5 September the first phase, out of two, of the International Training Programme in Plant Breeding and Seed Production will commence. This phase lasts for four weeks and the main venue is The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Campus Alnarp. Study visits will be made to sites with seed related activities in Skåne, Östergötland and Stockholm.

This batch consists of 27 professionals from 14 countries in Africa and Asia. The participants are all experienced seeds people and familiar with their seed industry back home. This training will give them an international perspective and a holistic approach of how a seed industry can function in an efficient way. Examples will be drawn from developed and developing countries. Experienced and very qualified resource persons will share their knowledge with the group and the participants have also many opportunities to interact with each other.

At the end of this phase an individual Project of Change has been worked out. This is a small project that each member of the group will implement and complete in the period between the two phases. During phase two, to be held in one of the participating countries during two weeks in March 2012, this project will be presented, discussed and finalized.

The first phase ends on 30 September.
